KETTLER Alu-Rad has represented quality made in Germany as a pioneer of light-weight bicycle construction since 1978. We developed and installed the first aluminium bike ever.

A lot has happened since: Aluminium has revolutionised the bicycle market as a material, our bikes optimally adjust to their riders thanks to innovative technology today, and electrical engineering has created a new dimension of bicycle mobility with the e-bike.

One thing has never changed, however, and we are quite proud of this:

Every KETTLER alu bicycle is designed, installed, painted, technically accepted and quality-inspected to the highest precision by our employees in our factory in Saarland, just as it was more than 30 years ago.

Only this way can we guarantee that you will get a bike that is just perfect for you. This is what we aim for: We make bikes that can be adjusted ergonomically to give you an optimised cycling experience, no matter your age, size and needs. We know what you need, because we listen and because we believe that only this will enable us to make bikes that move generations.

This is what KETTLER traditionally does: since its first own transport with pedals, the KETTCAR. Like the iconic pedalled racing car – continually developed further technically – has been passed on by one generation to the next, our employees also pass on their positions to the next generation. Our installer's son heads e-bike assembly today, for example. Our quality tester has taken over her mother's work and participates in regular further training on the latest quality and safety provisions.

It is very important to us that developments continue in spite of all tradition. Only this enables us to develop bikes that are "just perfect" for future generations as well.

Heinz Kettler confirmed his pioneering work in the area of bicycle development in 1977 as well. He was the first manufacturer to replace the conventional heavy steel that was the default material until then and put the first aluminium bicycle on the market. With the Kettler Alu Rad 2600, Heinz Kettler revolutionised the bicycle market under his name.

There is a good reason for this: The light metal has properties that permit the development of highest-quality bicycle and e-bike frames. It was always clear that we would remain loyal to this material. We proudly speak of our tradition in aluminium bicycle construction today. We continue to be innovative.

The frame is decisive for the quality of a bicycle. It is its core piece. It determines the optimal sitting position, the cycling behaviour, stability and not least the looks. As aluminium pioneers in bicycle construction, we have intensely dealt with the light-weight metal in the last 40 years, have developed and researched, recognised options and discarded what didn't keep up with our development. We have exacted the greatest demand from the material and made it give us its best.

The same applies to weight: Our bikes are lighter than ever thanks to the best aluminium alloys.

And on the subject of safety: Our tubes are hydro-moulded!

This permits highly precise work and tube dimensions that are individually adjusted to each model and size. This increases rigidity of the frame and ensure particular cycling stability even in borer areas – especially for e-bikes and E-mountain bikes.

Demands from material are also very high in terms of wear: special powder coatings are applied to the frame in a special burn-in procedure. They seal the metal to protect it optimally from scratches and impacts.
